Adults-Only Hotels: A Growing Trend Around the World

Hotels adults-only (in Spanish) have become a major trend worldwide. They first emerged in Spain at the end of the last decade, designed to allow guests to enjoy time with their partner, find peace and quiet, luxury, and pure relaxation. Today, major hotel chains are embracing the “adults only” concept.

Adults-Only Hotels: The Key Feature

According to statistics, demand for this type of accommodation has tripled in recent years; this indicates that it is a growing trend in tourism, which explains why the number of hotels specializing in this sector has increased so significantly.

These hotels began to establish themselves in the market throughout the 1970s, a time when “honeymoon” travel reached its peak.

For example, in the Caribbean, there are some hotels with areas specifically designed for adults, or that allow only adults. In Europe, these can be found in countries such as Spain and Croatia; and in Asia, in Bali. Other hotel chains also offer ways to enhance this adults-only service, including butlers, private pools and beaches, double jacuzzis in the rooms, as well as exclusive access to VIP areas.

Adults-only hotel chains

Currently, several hotel chains offer adults-only options at some of their hotels. Meliá has several hotels with adults-only areas, and the chains Riu Hotels & Resorts, Iberostar, and Occidental Hotels & Resorts offer adults-only hotels. As we can see, this is a trend that continues to grow.

Luxury All-Inclusive: An option to make guests feel right at home

This option has been designed so that guests have everything they’re looking for without restrictions; to be as comfortable as they would be at home, but with all the amenities the resort has to offer.

People who book rooms at these hotels are between the ages of 30 and 50; in addition, their household income is estimated to be approximately over 60,000€.

Thus, unlike what is offered at other hotels, the goal is not merely to provide guests with a place to stay, but also to offer a tailor-made experience. Guests who book this service want to customize it to their liking; as a result, they are much more likely to return.

It is estimated that there are currently more than 140 “Adults Only” hotels Adults Only hotels on the market; of these, 74 are located in the Balearic Islands, another 30 in the Canary Islands, and 20 on the Iberian Peninsula. In total, worldwide, it is estimated that there will be more than 600 such establishments. The vast majority of them are rather small, with facilities not suited for children and a very refined and sophisticated decor. An experience that will take our enjoyment of the vacation to a whole new level.
